Abbruch also des Versuchs!

On the weekend I finally joined the Stencillia Workshop at the Recycled Creativity Festival. Hugo Massari, a Brasilian in Berlin, who really know how to cut out impressive halftone stencils, showed his skills and shared his secrets. I tried to cut out my sketch but I must admit I failed. I need more time and more patience. But nevertheless a beautiful afternoon with clothing swap, political birdhouses, DIY jewellery, a community meal, and much much sunshine.

Stoffe bedrucken – neue BücherPrinting fabric – new books coming soon

Two interesting new books will be published this fall. The first one is written by Kim Kight, who runs the popular and famous True up website about all the news a fabric obsessed wants to know. Her book title sounds very promising: „A Field Guide to Fabric Design“ and it is announced to be ‚a comprehensive resource for fabric design and printing‘. The other book that will be out already next month and is written by Laurie Wisbrun who also designs and sells fabric as scarlet fig. It is entitled „Complete Guide to Designing and Printing Fabric“ and she writes on her blog last year: „The book is packed with information on the design process, step-by-step tutorials, interviews and loads of what I hope will be inspirational information and photos!“ But one still has to wait some weeks … Do you know any other interesting new books?

Alles Etsy!Everything Etsy!

These days are all about Etsy. Etsy speaks German now and the first Etsy conference takes place and it is here in Berlin! Wow. I’m amazed! Unfortunately I could just attend the Community Organizing Meet Up at Hello Etsy Berlin in the Etsy Labs today in the evening. It was very interesting, I got to know some of the Etsy folks and I heard a lot I did not know about Etsy teams and Etsy team building. The idea behind teams seems a lot more then just posting new treasuries. Maybe there is need for a Berlin Etsy Sellers Team? Hmh. The rest of the conference will also be live streamed, I hope I will find time to watch.

Erstes Design bei SpoonflowerFirst design at Spoonflower

My first Zebraria swatch from Spoonflower has finally arrived. You can buy it too (here). The fabrics are of course not hand-printed, but digitally which is like a really big inkjet printer. What I like about Spoonflower is that they offer at least two sorts of organic fabrics. And there are thousands of other beautifully prints to look at or to buy.
